Cheer Information

GYAA cheerleading has been in existence for over 13 years and has provided thousands of girls the opportunity to cheer.  The Cheer season corresponds to the GYAA Football season in the Fall.   The goals of GYAA Cheer are:

1. To cheer for GYAA football and provide a "real game' atmosphere for players, cheerleaders and spectators.

2. To give any child the opportunity to cheer.

3. To stress safety, conditioning and good sportsmanship while developing good fundamentals and basic techniques upon which to build for cheering beyond GYAA.

Cheer divisions are by grade, not age, and are Flag (K-1st grade), Pee Wee (2nd-3rd grade) and Junior (4th, 5th and 6th grades). Practices are twice per week beginning August 1 with Saturday and some weekday evening games through mid November.

Registration for Fall 2008 is now closed.  Please contact the GYAA office to inquire about late registration.  Team placement is done in the following order: 1) returning cheerleaders going back to the same squad and league, 2) returning cheerleaders moving up a league or changing squads, and 3) new cheerleaders.  Please contact the Cheer Director for information about registering.
